Ananda College starts her daily activities after receiving the blessings of Lord Buddha. Every morning Principal, teachers and all students, assembled at Ananda Vihara Mandiraya ( Buddhist Shrine Room) participate in this religious program, known as morning “Mal Poojawa”(offering flowers).
Students representing all grades carrying flowers, are aligned and walk devotedly and patiently one after the other from College Hostel area to the Ananda Vihara Mandiraya on a marked line. Generally it is the junior students who are in front of the line gradually representing students of higher grades. This is a pleasant and soothing sight to any observer in the morning.
Then students moved inside the Vihara Mandiraya and placed flowers on the altar in front of the massive sacred Buddha Statue and observe “Pansil”(Five Precepts). One of the Buddhist Theros of the tutorial staff guides the students and staff at the Vihara Mandiraya for observation of the religious activities.
After this religious ritual, scholars move to their respective classes in a disciplined manner after worshiping the Buddhist Theros. Then principal and the staff also moved to their respective offices, classes to execute their daily academic programs.
