Ananda College Celebrates 125 years of excellence

Since its inception in the year 1886 by Col. Henry Steel Olcot, Ananda College has been the sentinel of Buddhism within and beyond the borders of Sri Lanka. Ananda has been a key role in protecting the culture, traditions and unity of Mother Sri Lanka. Ananda College has also been inspirational in bringing forward thousands of heroes for the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka. From the battle for Independence in 1948, until the re-unification of our motherland in the year 2009, Anandians have played an invaluable role. Ananda College will continue to be the library of knowledge as well as the protector of Buddhism and Cultural values of Mother Lanka.
In connection to the 125th anniversary celebrations, a special pirith chant will be held on the 31st of October followed by an alms giving to 125 Buddhist monks on the 1st of November.
