“Uthuru-Mithuru” is a concept by the Deputy Minister for Social Services, Minister Lionel Premasiri, and it was put into action by the Ministry of Social Services. One of the main parts in this Uthuru Mithuru program was the art exhibition that was held during the 18th and 19th May at the “Kala Bhavana”, Colombo. The exhibits were creations by the students from the Kadiragamar Maha Vidyalaya, who are currently living in the Menik Farm IDP camp, in Settikulam Vavuniya. This exhibition was opened by the Hon. Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka.

Ananda has always been a generous host, for any friend in their hour of need. That’s why the children who came to Colombo, were given accomodation at Ananda. There were a total of 87 children, 52 of them were boys, and they stayed in the Ananda College Hostel. The other 35 girls stayed at Devi Balika Vidyalaya.

These students were welcomed by Anandians on the 17th Evening, and they had a wonderful stay within Ananda for 3 days. On the night of the 19th, there was a special bonfire, for their enjoyment. The bonfire was a wonderful event, where they were able to express their talent through songs and dances.

On the 20th Morning, there was a special art exhibition organized by Anandians, and it was opened by the Minister for Educational Services, Minister Nirmala Kothalavala. After the art exhibition, our Northern friends left for home.
